Restoring and upgrading a 9.5 Maximizer Database to Max 10.0

This is for a general restore operation not just an upgrade

1. Before starting:
   • Close all instances of Maximizer
   • Restore must be done to database with the same name

• Perform a restore from a maximizer database backup file to a target database
  1. From Sql Server Management Studio Interface
     • Right click on databases folder, select create new database and make a note of the location of your <database name> and <database name>_log files
     • Right click again on databases folder and select "Restore Database..."
     • Restore Database dialog box:
       1. Destination for restore
          • To database
            1. Select name of database to restore to
          • To point in time
            1. Leave as "Most recent possible"
     • Source for restore
       1. From database
          • Select "From device:", select ... button, then point to max 9.5 backup file
          • Check the database you just input in the "Select backup sets to restore:" list
     • In the "Select a page" list (on left of restore dialog), select the "Options" tab
       1. In "Restore Options" section, check "Overwrite existing database"
       2. Under "Restore database files as"
          • For the <database_name>.sql and <database_name>_log.sql files, change the path to the locations you made a note of above
          • For all the rest of the file locations change the path to a newly created directory somewhere else on your system leaving the file names intact
       3. Leave the "Recovery State" as is and click Ok
• Create a new Maximizer Address Book
  1. From Maximizer Administrator
     • If the address book already exists, delete it
     • Select File > New Address Book
     • Select the "Database Server" drop down, select your database (make sure the name is correct by going to the login screen of Sql Server Mgmt studio and copying the name exactly), and click the Next button
     • Input your "sa" user's password and click next
     • In the "Target action" section select "Employ an existing Maximizer Database"
     • In the "Database Name" drop down select the database you want to employ and click Next
     • At this point a login dialog might come up and ask you to login, just cancel, and if it comes up again, cancel again until it goes away
• Perform a database upgrade
  1. From Maximizer Administrator
     • Select Utilities > Upgrade Maximizer Enterprise 7.x/8.0/9.x Sql Database and follow the instructions
